What is cover in fishing?

In fishing, cover refers to any item or feature in the water where fish seek shelter or ambush prey. Examples include submerged logs, vegetation, rocks, overhanging branches, and other “add-on” features. This is opposed to structure, which refers the the permanent physical characteristics of a water body, such as points. Anglers often target cover as prime fishing spots.
